At Round Lake camp we are extremely aware of the educational challenges that face our campers throughout the school year. We feel
that camp is a place where we can foster positive study skills, continuing educational goals and being a positive influence on our campers' school success.
The following services are included in the Round Lake Camp experince...
- Adapted physical education (APE) is modified to address the individualized needs of campers who have gross motor challenges.
- Our Occupational Therapist follows the school and/or private therapist's goals and suggestions. We also utilize many different areas from a sensory
integrative perspective.
- Speech therapy is where we work with our campers in both with pronunciation and pragmatics.
- Classroom educational groups to involve group learning and social skills
- Social skills training classes where we work towards a social goal of being able to maintain appropriate and positive friendships and relationships.
- One to one tutorial programs allow our campers to gain individual skills and meet the goals created by their specific educational plans.
- Bar and Bat-Mitzvah tutoring.
Our Staff
Key administrators, division leaders and instructors are aware of
camper's goals and strive to give them the assistance they may need in making friends, learning new skills and getting along in a group scenario. Our specialists who work with our campers have
had experience with children and have a focus in their area of specialty.
Caring Counselors
Counselors are mature, good-natured and carefully selected
because of their interests in our campers. Every staff member participates in a specific, week long training program. Camp staff consistently exceed the standards set by the American Camping
Association. They are role models as well, as they manage and direct the campers' experiences in small and large group settings. Throughout the camp session, counselors receive routine support and
guidance formally and informally through in service sessions and hands on supervision. This one-on-one backup insures empathetic care and positive leadership experiences for campers.
